S. Sawka

Mr. Sawka has been actively involved in the theatre community for the past 17 years. Graduating from the TRU theatre program, he started working with 3 Men of Sin Theatre Company, performing and directing avant-garde Canadian theatre in and around Kamloops. Working professionally for WCTC (Peter Pan, Gross Indecencies) and Gateway Theatres in Richmond (Yesteryear), Mr. Sawka has performed in an array of genres, from children’s theatre to main stage productions. As Associate Director for Performing Arts Westsyde, he has directed students in Love of a Pig, I’ll Be Back before Midnight, and co-directed (with Darryl Chow) Frankenstein, Of Mice and Men, Romeo & Juliet, and The Crucible, to name a few. More recently, he directed the Westsyde productions of Bad Seed, Othello, and Steel Magnolias. He has also directed How it Hangs and Gertrude for TRU Actors Workshop, where he was formerly an instructor. As of late, Mr. Sawka has been a featured actor for Saucy Fops Theatre Company and has performed with them across Western Canada on the Fringe tour, in A Calendar Year playing a 10-year-old boy, and in Orchestrated and Counter Part for the WCTC’s Fest O’ Fall series. He has been teaching theatre for the past 10 years in Kamloops, Burnaby, and Matanzas, Cuba.
